Sometimes Naruto acts more like a child than a grown up.
He’s often too excited over the most trivial things, and loud at the most unappropriated moments – like right now, when he decided that getting up early on a Sunday morning to take care of the makeshift garden he build on their bedroom balcony, thus interrupting Sasuke’s few hours of extra sleep, would be a good idea.
“Shut up,” Sasuke grumbles, hiding his face under the pillow. Naruto pulled the curtains and the room is too bright. He hears Naruto muttering a sorry, and the room goes silent for a few precious minutes.
Until Naruto lets something drop on the floor.
Sasuke startles. Naruto says he’s sorry again, but he doesn’t stop whatever he’s doing with the plants, and Sasuke knows this time he’s lost.
“Have you eaten something yet?” he asks, even though he knows the answer is no. Naruto is in one of those moods today, when he forgets everything, including eating, in order to do whatever his minds is settled to do.
So Sasuke gets up, cursing just a little bit, and goes make some coffee for both of them. He curses a bit more when he finds several of Naruto’s gardening apparels all thrown around on the kitchen floor. He ignores them, what isn’t difficult at all – that is, until, in his half-asleep state, he stumbles on a trowel, spilling coffee all over his shirt. He curses a little bit more, but manages to save most of the beverage.
Already in a foul mood, he strides into the bedroom again, going straight to the balcony, ready to start a fight, but finds himself unable to do so at the sight of his husband on all fours, humming happily and fluffing the earth inside a vase of flowers.
It’s not an erotic sight at all, even if Naruto’s body is a work of art. He looks childish and funny, in those awful orange boxers with the smiling sun that are unfortunately one of his favorites. But he looks good. Happy.
“Remember these?” Naruto asks, holding delicately between his fingers the petal of a flower in a simple vase.
Sasuke doesn’t know the name of the flower, but he does remember how anxious Naruto became to buy its seeds when they visited the store a few weeks ago, and the effort he made the following days to take good care of them. Apparently they are very rare and difficult to cultivate, or something like that.
“They were Mom’s favorites,” Naruto says. He touches the petals like they are the most fragile and special thing in the world. He leans down a bit, still smiling, and inhales their scent deeply. Then, he finally turns to Sasuke, beaming at him. “I want to have one of these everywhere in the house!”
Sasuke exhales an air he didn’t even realize he was holding, and with it he hears himself whispering, “Okay.”Written by lovelyThank you so much! ♥
